About Us
Welcome to Envelopes of Hope! We are dedicated to providing hope and joy for inmates in the Utah Justice System through written letters. Through our program, you will be paired with an inmate and will be engaged in our uplifting pen pal program.
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds above the age of 18, and are grateful to you for joining us on this journey. We believe in the power of words and compassion, and it reflects in everything we do. Our team is committed to making a difference, with the goal of finding a pen pal for every interested inmate in the state of Utah.
How it Works
1. Finding Volunteers
Volunteers are found from within and outside of Utah. We welcome and encourage everyone above the age of 18 who is interested to sign up for the pen pal program.
2. Matching Pen Pals
Through our initial questionnaire, you will be matched with a pen pal that fits your criteria. To ensure your safety and comfortability, an alias name may be used and our PO box can be used to ensure confidentiality. Before you may begin writing, we also ask you to complete a short training located on this website to ensure safety and protocol are followed.
3. Sending Hope
Once you are matched with a pen pal, we will send you their name and address. Pen pals may write as often as they are able with no commitment. Find a new friend in an unlikely place, and change a life for the better.
